Atelvia Drug Interactions

Magnesium Products
Magnesium binds to Atelvia in the stomach, preventing it from being absorbed in the body and making it less effective. Be sure to wait at least 30 minutes after taking Atelvia before taking any magnesium products.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs
Both NSAIDs and Atelvia can be irritating to the stomach. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these drugs together.
Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs)
The delayed-release coating on Atelvia tablets is designed to stay intact in an acidic environment, like the stomach, and to dissolve in a less acidic environment, like the small intestine. By decreasing the acidity of the stomach, PPIs could cause Atelvia tablets to dissolve too quickly -- in the stomach, instead of the intestines -- perhaps decreasing the absorption of the drug. If you take Atelvia, check with your healthcare provider before taking a PPI.
In studies, combining teriparatide with medications like Atelvia seemed to make teriparatide less effective. Talk to your healthcare provider before using these medications together.
