Calcitonin Salmon InjectionCalcitonin salmon injection can be prescribed to treat high blood calcium, Paget's disease, or osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. The medication is a synthetic version of a hormone found in salmon that helps regulate bone formation and breakdown. It can either be administered just under the skin or into the muscle. Possible side effects of calcitonin salmon injection include vomiting, nausea, and flushing.
