Miacalcin Nasal Spray Side Effects

Back pain, runny or stuffy nose, and other nasal symptoms are the most common side effects of Miacalcin nasal spray. Rare side effects include increased appetite, hair loss, and migraines. While most Miacalcin nasal spray side effects are minor and easily treated, some are potentially serious and should be reported to a healthcare provider right away, including depression, frequent nosebleeds, or severe nasal irritation.

 

An Introduction to Miacalcin Nasal Spray Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Miacalcin® nasal spray (calcitonin salmon nasal spray); however, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Common Miacalcin Nasal Spray Side Effects

Miacalcin nasal spray has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials, in which a group of people taking the drug have side effects documented and compared to another group not taking the medicine. This way, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.
 
In these studies, the most common side effects of Miacalcin nasal spray included:
 
  • Runny or stuffy nose -- in up to 12 percent of people
  • Other nasal symptoms (such as nasal crusting, redness, irritation, and bleeding) -- up to 10.6 percent
  • Back pain -- up to 5 percent.
